BIO
I am a Luxembourg-based photographer whose work moves between fiction and memory, documentary and daydream. I photograph what lingers: a sleepless night, a faded room, the way light falls on a stranger’s back. For me, photography is not only about documenting but also about transformation. Reality is bendable. Through self-portraits, objects, and street scenes, I explore how we hold time, and how time holds us.
I studied photography in Brussels from 1998 to 2001 and visual arts in Strasbourg from 2002 to 2005. For more than two decades I have worked independently, developing projects that weave memory, perception, and fiction. Influenced by films, music, and literature as much as by daily life, I return to my archive often: images taken long ago resurface, shift meaning, and connect to something new. I don’t aim to simply capture what is there but to shape something personal and quietly strange.
My work has been recognized in Luxembourg and abroad. I received the Découvertes – Jeunes Talents prize from the Centre National de l’Audiovisuel (CNA) for Reflections, was nominated for the Robert Schuman Art Prize with Moving Through Time – At the Discovery of Disappearance, and was shortlisted for the 2025 Images Vevey Book Award with Deceptively Quiet. I have published four monographs, and my photographs have appeared in over 40 publications. Exhibited in more than 60 shows across Europe, the United States, India, and China, my work is also part of public and private collections.
Beyond my personal projects, I collaborate with cultural institutions and creative partners and continue to explore other forms, including experimental videos created together with my husband, musician Daniel Balthasar, linking image and sound. My practice also extends to film set, portrait, and documentary photography, fields I actively pursue alongside my artistic work.
My photographs open a space where memory and imagination meet. They are an invitation to look differently, to question what is real, and to let the image continue as a story long after leaving the frame.
Alongside my personal work, I also collaborate with theaters, film productions, and institutions on commissioned projects.
